Growing the North 2018!

posted by: Stonebridge Hotel on: June 14, 2018 03:01:42 PM

Northern Canada isn’t for everyone. It’s for those who appreciate its harsh beauty, who aren’t afraid to work hard. Those of us who live or work here face challenges, but also reap incredible awards – and that’s why we love it.

Scheduled for February 21-22 in Evergreen Park outside of Grand Prairie, Growing The North is dedicated to allowing community leaders and entrepreneurs get up to date on economic and social opportunities for the North. With presentations by industry leaders and experts on a variety of topics, this is great way to envision a future for northern communities, and an even better way to network!
Speakers include Darby Allen, the former Fort MacMurray Fire Chief, who will give a talk about how to overcome crisis as a community, Jonathan Banks, a researcher from the University of Alberta, who will talk about opportunities in geothermal energy exploration! Also speaking is Cam Battley, vice-president of Aurora Cannabis, who will speak on how northern communities can benefit from the upcoming legalization of marijuana. It’s no exaggeration to say that this conference may change your life! And did we mention? Pomeroy is a proud sponsor!
Details and registration available here.

Fort St. John plays host to the Canadian Junior Long Track Championships 2018, where the nation’s top speed skaters will compete for the gold! Track skating is one of the most incredible shows of skill and athleticism in the world, and this is your chance to see the best of the best putting it all on the line. Takes place at the Pomeroy Sports Centre February 2-4. Details here.
Whether you’re visiting Grand Prairie, Fort St. John, or Dawson Creek, you can count on quality accommodations at Stonebridge Hotel by Pomeroy. We strive to provide the best so you can count on a good’s night sleep, whether you’re planning the future of the north, skating for the gold, or heading to the jobsite. Book you room here
